Population ProjectionsPopulation Projections from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). These are the official projections of the future resident population in Lincolnshire. Population projections show estimates of future population sizes for the next 25 years based on recent population trends and Population Mid-Year Estimates (also published on this platform). Please note that although ONS data may show exact numbers, they are estimates so some rounding should be applied. Population projections are produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and are updated every two years.October 9, 2025 at 11:00:49 PMMore info
Lincolnshire BoundariesDigital map boundaries of areas within Lincolnshire. Themes include Administrative, Electoral, Statistical, and Health. These boundary data sets are sourced from Ordnance Survey (OS) and the Office for National Statistics (ONS). They come under the terms of the UK Govt. Open Government Licence (OGL). You can use any of the boundary data sets for any purpose, but you must use the following copyright statements when you reproduce or use this material: - Source: Office for National Statistics licensed under the Open Government Licence v.3.0 - Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right [year] October 9, 2025 at 11:00:49 PMMore info
Indices of DeprivationThe Indices of Deprivation are published nationally by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). These are the official indicators of deprivation. As such, wherever they show deprivation in local areas they provide strong and credible evidence to support funding bids and target resources. Deprivation is measured by the Indices of Deprivation on an Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), and also in specific domains and sub-domains of deprivation (for example Income, Employment, Education and Skills, etc). Two further datasets are included within this data, for Income Deprivation affecting Children (IDACI) and Older People (IDAOPI). So as well as overall deprivation shown in the IMD, the themed deprivation domains (and sub-domains) can also be used to identify and evidence different elements of deprivation. For example, among the various deprivation issues affecting local communities in Lincolnshire, deprivation in rural access to housing and services can often stand out in the data. There are useful supporting resources to help people understand and use the Indices of Deprivation, please see the source weblink and the additional links provided. These links also provide Deprivation data summaries for Districts, NHS CCGs, Lincolnshire, and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP. Source: Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). The Indices of Deprivation are updated at four-yearly intervals (so until the next update, the data stays current and valid for use). October 9, 2025 at 11:00:41 PMMore info
Population Mid-Year EstimatesPopulation Mid-year Estimates from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). These are the official estimates of the resident population in Lincolnshire. ONS uses information from the census and other data to produce these official mid-year population estimates every year between each census. These figures show how many people live in each local area and the population age-sex structure. This data is updated annually. Although the ONS data shows exact numbers, they are estimates so some rounding should be applied. For current Armed forces populations, two Ministry of Defence links are also shown below. The ONS 2021 Census link has Veterans data. Population Projections data sourced from ONS is also available on this platform. The Source link shown below is to the ONS Nomis website. It has user-friendly data query tools for a broad range of ONS and other datasets from official sources. October 9, 2025 at 11:00:39 PMMore info
Ethnic Minority PopulationsThere are 3 datasets within this publication showing key aspects of Ethnic Minority Populations in Lincolnshire: Ethnic Groups, Proficiency in English, and Religion. The datasets show 2021 Census estimates of the total resident population with breakouts for these three population categories. These Census 2021 datasets are sourced from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Nomis website - see the Source link below. Data is shown for Lincolnshire and Districts, and for 2021 Lower Super Output Areas (LSOA). Different geographies and more detailed breakouts of these and other useful datasets, are available at the Source link. The data is updated every 10 years with the next update due from the Census 2031.October 9, 2025 at 11:00:38 PMMore info
Emergency Hospital Admissions for Hip Fractures (age 65 and over)This dataset shows Emergency Hospital Admissions for fractured neck of femur, for persons Age 65 and over by Gender. The data source (Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID)) has indicated the following aspects in its commentary. Firstly, hip fracture is a debilitating condition - only one in three sufferers return to their former levels of independence, and one in three ends up leaving their own home and moving to long-term care. Hip fractures are almost as common and as costly to public services as strokes. Mortality from hip fracture is high - about one in ten people with a hip fracture die within a month, and about one in three die within a year. Within the 65 and over age group there are differences in hip fracture rates by Age and Gender. For data breakouts and more information please see the source link. Directly Age-Standardised Rates (DASR) are shown in the data (where numbers are sufficient) so that rates can be directly compared between areas. The DASR calculation applies Age-specific rates to a Standard European population to cancel out possible effects on crude rates due to different age structures among populations, thus enabling direct comparisons of rates. Source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator 4.14i (41401-E13). This data is updated annually. School Pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)This dataset shows numbers and percentages of pupils on roll in Lincolnshire schools who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). Indicators are included to show whether the outcome is in the form of Support (SEN-K) or an Education, Health and Care Plan (SEN-E). The dataset covers current and main pupils on the roll of schools in Lincolnshire, and includes Gender breakouts. Pupils are allocated to geographical areas (such as Wards and NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups) based on home address. Figures shown in the data as ‘Out of County’ represent pupils not resident within the Lincolnshire administrative boundary. Those are included in the Lincolnshire total. Data is suppressed where appropriate 5 persons and below (which may be shown as zero or by missing data). That and any unmatched postcodes may mean numbers for small areas might not add up exactly to figures shown for larger areas. Data is from the Schools Census and shows a snapshot in January and is updated annually. Data source: Lincolnshire County Council Children's Services. School Pupils Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) or with English as an Additional Language (EAL)This dataset contains two distinct sets of data. One shows School Pupils Black and Minority Ethnicity (BME), and the other one shows School Pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Both show the Number and Percentage of current and main pupils on the roll of Schools in Lincolnshire at a given point in the year, and include Gender breakouts. Pupils are allocated to geographical areas (such as Wards and NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups) based on home address. BME includes pupils not either White British, White English, White Welsh, White Scottish or White Cornish. EAL refers to pupils for whom first language has been specified and is other than English. (Pupils where language information has not been provided are not counted as EAL, eg. where parents have exercised their right to refuse to provide the information). Data is from the Schools Census and shows a snapshot in January. School Pupils Number on RollThis dataset shows School Pupils Number on Roll (NOR) in Lincolnshire schools. Numbers of Pupils are shown by School and by School Phase, and by Age and National Curriculum Year. The dataset covers current and main pupils on the roll of schools in Lincolnshire. Pupil numbers are allocated to local authority district areas based on the geographical location of school. Points to be aware of: • Sixth form pupils who now attend consortia Sixth forms must be recorded as a subsidiary pupil at the school they receive education at and as a Main (Dual registered) pupil with the school that holds their registration details. • FTE means the full time equivalent numbers of pupils in attendance. For example, a class of 20 nursery children attending either mornings or afternoons only (half days) would count as 10 FTE. Note the FTE for Primary Schools includes Nursery Pupils Data is from the Schools Census and shows a snapshot in May. It is updated annually. Deaths from All CancersThis data shows premature deaths (Age under 75) from all Cancers, numbers and rates by gender, as 3-year moving-averages. Cancers are a major cause of premature deaths. Inequalities exist in cancer rates between the most deprived areas and the most affluent areas. Directly Age-Standardised Rates (DASR) are shown in the data (where numbers are sufficient) so that death rates can be directly compared between areas. The DASR calculation applies Age-specific rates to a Standard (European) population to cancel out possible effects on crude rates due to different age structures among populations, thus enabling direct comparisons of rates. A limitation on using mortalities as a proxy for prevalence of health conditions is that mortalities may give an incomplete view of health conditions in an area, as ill-health might not lead to premature death. Data source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), indicator ID 40501, E05a. This data is updated annually. October 9, 2025 at 11:00:16 PMMore info

Deaths from Respiratory DiseaseThis data shows premature deaths (Age under 75) from Respiratory Disease, numbers and rates by gender, as 3-year range. Smoking is the major cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), one of the major Respiratory diseases. COPD (which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema) results in many hospital admissions. Respiratory diseases can also be caused by environmental factors (such as pollution, or housing conditions) and influenza. Respiratory disease mortality rates show a socio-economic gradient. Directly Age-Standardised Rates (DASR) are shown in the data, where numbers are sufficient, so that death rates can be directly compared between areas. Deaths from All CausesThis data shows premature deaths (Age under 75), numbers and rates by gender, as 3-year moving-averages. All-Cause Mortality rates are a summary indicator of population health status. All-cause mortality is related to Life Expectancy, and both may be influenced by health inequalities. Data source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator ID 108. This data is updated annually. October 9, 2025 at 11:00:02 PMMore info
Deaths from Liver DiseaseThis data shows premature deaths (Age under 75) from Liver Disease, numbers and rates by gender, as 3-year moving-averages. Most liver disease is preventable and much is influenced by alcohol consumption and obesity prevalence, which are both amenable to public health interventions. Low numbers may result in zero values or missing data. Data source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator 40601 (E06a). The data is updated annually. October 9, 2025 at 11:00:02 PMMore info
Deaths from SuicideThis data shows deaths (of people age 10 and over) from Suicide and Undetermined Injury, numbers and rates by gender, as 3-year moving-averages. Suicide is a significant cause of premature deaths occurring generally at younger ages than other common causes of premature mortality. It may also be seen as an indicator of underlying rates of mental ill-health. Directly Age-Standardised Rates (DASR) are shown in the data, where numbers are sufficient, so that death rates can be directly compared between areas. The DASR calculation applies Age-specific rates to a Standard (European) population to cancel out possible effects on crude rates due to different age structures among populations, thus enabling direct comparisons of rates. The figures in this dataset include deaths recorded as suicide (people age 10 and over) and undetermined injury (age 15 and over) as those are mostly likely also to have been caused by self-harm rather than unverifiable accident, neglect or abuse. The population denominators for rates are age 10 and over. Low numbers may result in zero values or missing data. Data source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator 41001 (E10). This data is updated annually. Emergency Hospital Admissions for Falls (Age 65 and over)Falls are a major cause of Emergency Hospital Admissions for Older People, and lead to many moving from home into residential care. The highest risk of falls is in people aged 65 and over. Falls injuries can be particularly serious for older people, resulting in fractures and hospitalisation. Inpatient hospital admissions are a proportion of falls incidents, but more may present to Accident and Emergency and GPs, not all of which will lead to hospital admission. This indicator helps to measure falls prevention and joint working between the NHS, public health and social care. This data uses primary diagnosis of injuries only. This may result in lower values in comparison to using all diagnoses. Data source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator 2.24i (22401-C29). This data is updated annually. October 9, 2025 at 10:59:57 PMMore info
Adult Smoking PrevalenceThis data shows the percentage of adults (age 18 and over) who are current smokers. Smoking is the single biggest cause of preventable death and illnesses, and big inequalities exist between and within communities. Smoking is a major risk factor for many diseases, such as lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, bronchitis and emphysema) and heart disease. It is also associated with cancers in other organs. Smoking is a modifiable lifestyle risk factor. Preventing people from starting smoking is important in reducing the health harms and inequalities. This data is based on the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Annual Population Survey (APS). The percentage of adults is not age-standardised. In this dataset particularly at district level there may be inherent statistical uncertainty in some data values. Thus as with many other datasets, this data should be used together with other data and resources to obtain a fuller picture. Data source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator 92443 (Number 15). This data is updated annually. Employment by Broad Industrial GroupThis data uses a national employer survey to show numbers and percentages of people employed in jobs in industries in each broad industrial group. Data is shown for Lincolnshire and Districts, and also for smaller areas (such as Wards, and Lower super output areas (LSOAs from the 2011 Census)). Some limitations of the dataset are that figures for small areas (Wards and LSOAs) exclude employees in farm agriculture (Standard Industrial Classification subclass 01000). The figures include businesses registered for PAYE but not for VAT. Values may be rounded and low numbers suppressed (particularly at smaller geographies) so numbers may not tally precisely with figures for larger areas. Figures are shown for the most recent year available, although these are provisional and may be subject to later revision by ONS. This data is based on the ONS Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES, open access) sourced from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Nomis website. More detailed breakouts of Standard Industrial Classifications are available from the Source weblink. This dataset is updated annually October 9, 2025 at 10:59:56 PMMore info
Emergency Hospital Admissions for Intentional Self-Harm (all ages)Mental health and well-being is an important aspect of public health. Self-harm is an expression of personal distress. There is a significant and persistent risk of future suicide following an episode of self-harm. This data shows self-harm events severe enough to warrant hospital admission. Almost all hospital admissions for intentional self-harm are emergency admissions. Although hospital admissions data is being used as a proxy for the prevalence of severe self-harm, this is only the tip of the iceberg in relation to the health and well-being burden of self-harm. Source: Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator 2.10ii (21001-C14b). This data is updated annually. Gross Value Added (GVA)Gross Value Added measures the value generated in the production of goods and services. It is one measure of overall economic performance. This dataset shows Gross Value Added at current basic prices (which include the effects of inflation), in Pounds (£). The measure shown is Balanced GVA, that is GVA(B). The data shows the total annual GVA(B) figure in billions of pounds, and then as pounds per head. Another figure is also included in the dataset, showing GVA(B) in pounds per head as a percentage of the equivalent UK figure. The most recent year's data is normally provisional, with finalised data being shown in the next year's update. Data that is provisional is indicated within the dataset. Historical data is subject to revision. This data is updated annually. Business DemographyBusiness demography data counts numbers of active businesses with turnover or employment in a reporting year. It also indicates numbers of new businesses (business births) and numbers of businesses terminated (business deaths) during the reporting year. Numbers and percentages of businesses that were newly created during years leading up to the latest reporting year, and which were still surviving, are also shown. When using the data, comparative business birth or death rates may be constructed adhoc if needed, by dividing the number of births or deaths by the number of active businesses. Please note that due to being required early in the reporting cycle, numbers of business deaths are provisional and may be subject to later revision. Education Attainment: Foundation, Phonics, and Key Stage 1This data shows Education Attainment, at Early Years Foundation Stage, Year 1 Phonics assessments, and Key Stage 1 teacher assessments. Numbers and percentages of pupils are shown by gender. A brief outline of the attainment levels: • A Good level of Development at Foundation Stage means children achieving at least the expected level within the following areas of learning: communication and language; physical development; personal, social and emotional development; literacy; and mathematics. • Year 1 Phonics attainment is based on the percentage of pupils meeting the standard of the Phonics decoding screening check. • Key Stage 1 attainment is based on the percentage of pupils achieving the expected standard or above in each of Reading, Writing and Maths Teacher Assessments. • Key Stage 1 attainment is not available in 2024 as this has now become non-statutory and optional. Data has been included up until 2023. More information about the Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary Key Stage 1 curriculums is available on the Department for Education (DfE) School Curriculum website; a link to that is included along with the dataset. Data is included for Wards, Lower Super Output Areas (LSOA), Districts, and Lincolnshire. The data has been aggregated based on pupil postcode and only includes those pupils living and educated within Lincolnshire. If you want Lincolnshire and District aggregations based on those pupils that are educated within Lincolnshire, irrespective of where they live; then please see the Department for Education Statistics website and School Performance Tables (links to these included as Resources accompanying these datasets). Data is suppressed where appropriate 5 persons and below (this may be shown by missing data). That and any unmatched postcodes may mean numbers for small areas might not add up exactly to figures shown for larger areas. This data is updated annually. Data source: Lincolnshire County Council, Performance Services – Schools Performance. For any enquiries about this publication please contact: [email protected] Please note: Foundation Stage Profile National data for Early Years Foundation Stage Profile results are published via: https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistics/early-years-foundation-stage-profile-results – GOV.UK (explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk) There have been changes to the Foundation Stage Profile even though the overall measure of “Good Level of Development” appears to be the same. The DfE offer the following phrase via the above link: “This is the third publication since the 2021/22 EYFS reforms were introduced in September 2021. As part of those reforms, the EYFS profile was significantly revised. It is therefore not possible to directly compare 2023/24, 2022/23 & 2021/22 assessment outcomes with earlier years. The 2019/20 and 2020/21 data collections were cancelled due to coronavirus (COVID-19).” Further details on the changes to the early years foundation stage (EYFS) framework can be found via the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/changes-to-the-early-years-foundation-stage-eyfs-framework/changes-to-the-early-years-foundation-stage-eyfs-framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Phonics and Key Stage 1 National data for Phonics and Key Stage 1 results are published via: https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistics/key-stage-1-and-phonics-screening-check-attainment – GOV.UK (explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk) It is worth noting that there have been drops in attainment seen nationally. The DfE offer the following commentary via the link above: “These are the third phonics screening check and second key stage 1 attainment statistics since 2019, after assessments were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. These statistics cover the attainment of year 1 and year 2 pupils who took these assessments in summer 2024 (phonics) or summer 2023 (key stage 1). These pupils experienced disruption to their learning during the pandemic.” October 9, 2025 at 10:59:43 PMMore info
Education Attainment: Key Stage 2This data shows Education Attainment at Key Stage 2. Numbers and percentages of pupils reaching the expected standard in reading, writing, and mathematics are shown by gender. That and any unmatched postcodes may mean numbers for small areas might not add up exactly to figures shown for larger areas. This data is updated annually. Education Attainment: Key Stage 4This data shows Education Attainment at Key Stage 4. Numbers and percentages of pupils attaining at Key Stage 4 are shown by gender. Points to be aware of: • In 2016-2017, children were assessed under new school accountability standards with a new grading system of grades 9 to 1 instead of A* to G. This means data for the academic year ending in 2017 is not comparable with previous years' data. Analysis and comparisons between groups of pupils, types of schools and pupil characteristics are more likely to provide more meaningful information than comparisons over time. • Two new headline standards are shown in this dataset: English and maths strong passes at grades 9-5, and the English Baccalaureate with strong passes at grades 9 to 5 in English and maths. In addition, we have also provided both statistics based on standard passes at grade 9 to 4, as these statistics should be comparable with historical A*-C measures. More information: see the Secondary Curriculum, key stage 3 and key stage 4 (GCSEs) website (link to this included as Resource accompanying these datasets). Data is included for Wards, Lower Super Output Areas (LSOA), Districts, and Lincolnshire. The data has been aggregated based on pupil postcode and only includes those pupils living and educated within Lincolnshire. The DfE offer the following commentary via the link above: “Last academic year saw the return of the summer exam series, after they had been cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, where alternative processes were set up to award grades (centre assessment grades, known as CAGs, and teacher assessed grades, known as TAGs). As part of the transition back to the summer exam series adaptations were made to the exams (including advance information) and the approach to grading for 2022 exams broadly reflected a midpoint between results in 2019 and 2021. More information on these changes can be seen in the Guide to GCSE results for England, summer 2022. Given the unprecedented change in the way GCSE results were awarded in the summers of 2020 and 2021, as well as the changes to grade boundaries and methods of assessment for 2021/22, users need to exercise caution when considering comparisons over time, as they may not reflect changes in pupil performance alone.” October 9, 2025 at 10:59:39 PMMore info
Life ExpectancyLife expectancy is a summary measure of the all-cause mortality rates in an area in a given period. It shows an estimate of the average number of years a newborn baby would survive if he or she experienced the age-specific mortality rates for that area and time period throughout his or her life. Figures reflect mortality among those living in an area in the given time period, not the life expectancy of newborn children. That is because both the mortality rates of the area are likely to change in the future, and because many of those born in the area will live elsewhere for at least some part of their lives. Life expectancy is a summary measure of a population's health. It may be influenced by premature mortalities and health inequalities. Household Waste and RecyclingHousehold Waste Collected and Recycling rates. The dataset shows annual (financial year) figures for Local Authority Districts and Lincolnshire. The data shows the quantity (kg) of Household Waste Collected per person. (This reflects former national indicator BVPI 84a). The data also shows the overall Household Recycling and Composting Rate, as a percentage of household waste. (This reflects former national indicator NI192). Household Waste figures are used to calculate the Recycling rates. The county total figure for Household Waste may be higher than the sum of the districts, because Lincolnshire is a disposal authority not a collection authority. The data is updated annually. Children in Low Income FamiliesThis dataset shows official annual experimental statistics for numbers and percentages of Children age under 16 living in Relative and Absolute low income families, by Local Authority District and Ward. More detailed data breakdowns (such as Age of Child, Family Type and Work Status, plus data for other small area geographies and trend data), are available at the Source link. Percentages are calculated by dividing the number of children age 0-15 living in low income families by resident children age 0-15 from mid-year population estimates. The latest data is marked P for Provisional and is subject to future revision. Data source: Department for Work and Pensions and HM Revenue and Customs. Updates are according to government statistics releases. For more information about this data and its methodology, please see the Source link. October 9, 2025 at 10:59:31 PMMore info

Live BirthsLive Births registered annually in Lincolnshire and Districts. The figures are shown as a Number and also as a Rate per 1000 women age 15-44 (inclusive), which is called the General Fertility Rate (GFR). This ONS data is shown by the mother's area of usual residence, so in some cases a live birth might occur in an area but not be included in its figures. Low values below 5 are suppressed, so some figures may be missing (particularly for smaller geographies), and thus not tally to the numbers shown for larger areas. This dataset is updated annually. Counter FraudInformation about Counter Fraud work at Lincolnshire County Council, including use of powers, employees and fraud cases. This information is published as part of the Local Government Transparency Code. Please note that a fraud referral may be made (shown in the dataset under Fraud identified) but not investigated (see Fraud Investigated). For instance, there may be a lack of evidence, a reasonable explanation provided or management action may be taken following preliminary enquiries. Therefore, fraud investigated will usually be less than fraud identified. Also, figures for fraud and figures for irregularities are likely to be identical, as they are in practice not categorised any differerently. This dataset is updated annually each June. Deaths (Number)Number of Deaths registered annually in Lincolnshire and Districts, by gender. This ONS data is shown by the deceased person's area of usual residence, so in some cases a death might occur in an area but not be included in its figures. Low values below 5 are suppressed, so some figures may be missing (particularly for smaller geographies), and thus not tally to the numbers shown for larger areas. This dataset is updated annually. Source: Office for National Statistics (ONS). Note: Please be advised that the ONS currently has this dataset under consultation for review (as of 09/01/2025) so may not be updated annually until the review has concluded. Deaths from Cardiovascular DiseaseThis data shows premature deaths (Age under 75) from Cardiovascular Disease, numbers and rates by gender, as 3-year moving-averages. Cardiovascular Disease include heart diseases and stroke, and others. Socio-economic and lifestyle factors are associated with circulatory disease deaths and inequalities in circulatory disease rates. Modifiable risk factors include smoking, excess weight, diet, and physical inactivity. A limitation on using mortalities as a proxy for prevalence of health conditions is that mortalities may give an incomplete view of health conditions in an area, as ill-health might not lead to premature death. Data source: NHS Digital (now part of NHS England) Compendium hub, dataset unique identifier P00395. This data is updated annually. Note: Compendium Mortality Consultation 2022 NHS Digital is currently analysing the results of the consultation that closed on 14 September 2022.
